The fascination of the knightly universe, the medieval atmosphere and the beauty of Provence are central in the story of "Rusalka", which explores the ever-engrossing concept of the love triangle. Raymonda and Prince Jean de Brienne love each other, but their story together is threatened by the figure of Saracin Abderaman. A theatre-cum-dance performance freely based on Shakespeare's Anthony and Cleopatra but with a completely different ending in which the two protagonists live happily ever after. Director Patrizia Cerroni also created the choreography for this pièce dedicated to Cleopatra, a symbol and metaphor of women saved because she was a beacon of love. Sergio Oliva directs this performance that explores the virtues of melodrama. The title of the piece comes from a group of Florentine aristocrats who lived during the Renaissance and met to discuss art and music. It was they who gave life to the melodramatic form. The choreographies performed by the Turin-based "EgriBiancoDanza" company are by Raphael Bianco, who, together with Ivan Coviello, also takes care of the stage design of this ballet. The music of "Feroce partita" is by John Cage combined with preludes by Johannes Sebastian Bach and Japanese percussive rhythms, while the music in "Da nobis pacem" is by Arvo Part. The resulting soundtrack is dense and characterful.
