An exhibition with a difference: each one of the ca. 100 works on display was stolen and then found by the police forces. The works are being shown before being returned to their rightful owners. In a recently restored 18th century palazzo some veritable masterpieces are on display, including Etruscan, ancient Roman and Renaissance pieces. Tiepolo's La Beata Concezione, two works by Guercino, Modigliani's La fillette aux bas rounges and Sironi's Il Lavoro, are particularly worth pointing out. Tue-sun h10-19. Admission free

Bramante's Cloister beside the Church of Santa Maria della Pace celebrates ten years of activity with an exceptional exhibition dedicated to the great Andy Warhol that is centred on spirituality. This exhibition, which explores the historic phrase Jesus said to Mary Magdalene, allows us to enter into the complexity and profundity of Warhol's thought. Warhol does not limit himself to the question of believing and not believing, he personalises the issue, starting with the most difficult questions that it raises.

Prolific German artist Paul Klee, who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries, started to paint after a trip to Tunisia. He developed a highly original and personal style based on abstract signs and symbolism. The Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna group has been hard at work on a special project; purchasing artistic works that date from the same period in which the banking group was founded. This project has now become a reality in the form of the "Officina emiliana", which evokes the title of the historic "Officina ferrarese" text by Roberto Longhi. These two geniuses of 20th century painting though profoundly different in painting styles were united by an important and complex correspondence and were constantly listening to, and debating with, one another. Pierre Bonnard and Henri Matisse's works await us at the Vittoriano complex where over 200 drawings, watercolours, documents, letters, postcards, oils, sculptures and gouaches have been assembled. These two great artists and art lovers were inspired by the same themes - nature, landscapes and people - but they explored them in entirely different ways. "Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus' son Achilleus and its devastation, which put pains thousandfold upon the Achaians [...]." Thus begins one of the most famous poems in the world. This exhibition's intent is to be as faithful as possible to the original poem. Its first section is in fact made up of the work's so-called prodromes (premonitions), such as the Judgement of Paris. A beautiful gallery has been filled with gods and heroes, and another section dedicated to Greek and Trojan heroes. Finally the last section is dedicated to the strongest and most intense sequences of the poem; those that speak of love and war. The Iliad is a masterpiece that should be revisited often. The fascinating history of the great Chinese empire is explored in this exhibition that includes 400 objects: jade and bronze items, sculptures, statues, vases and funeral dowry. The material allows visitors to look back at ten centuries of history of the Chinese empire during a period spanning from 221 BC to the 20th century. Also on show are some striking full-size terracotta warriors that were found in Lintong near the mausoleum dedicated to the First Emperor.

"Petros Eni" is inscribed on a fragment of plaster discovered during the archaeological digs carried out in the Necropolis dell'Urbe. This is one of the many pieces that provide evidence of the great diffusion of the cult of St Peter. This fragment, and a series of other materials and art-works, are exhibited in a show that commemorates the 500 years of the establishment of St Peter's Basilica. The most prestigious museums in the world have lent works by Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Raphael, Michelangelo, Titian and El Greco for the occasion. An exhibition that celebrates the 500th anniversary of the existence of the Vatican museums and that is dedicated to the marble statue of Laocoon discovered in 1506. The museums have constantly promoted art and culture thanks to a succession of popes who have been committed to safeguarding the country's artistic heritage. The Vatican museums are currently the museum complex that attracts the most visitors nationwide.

The eye of the century" was the name given to Cartier-Bresson, a photographer who captured the atmosphere and soul of an era in his work. The subjects of his photos were famous personalities such as Christian Dior and Pablo Neruda, but also simple passers-by and children, views and landscapes. All these elements make up this two-part exhibition, which is accompanied by books, documents and magazines. A master in the Hungarian genre, Karoly Chocol, took photos in the years running up, and during, this event that only reaped results a generation later. This show marks the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution of 1956. An exhibition entirely dedicated to books in which the book is looked at from two angles. The first section looks specifically at the art and literature of the 1800s and 1900s, exploring in particular themes such as meditation, figurative painting and literary portraits. The second section, on the other hand, looks at the book in first place as a work of art. In this section we can admire texts such as "Jazz" by Matisse or "Zang Tumb Tumb" by Tommaso Marinetti. Until 20 Nov: Arte contemporanea per i rifugiati 2006 (Contemporary art in aid of refugees 2006)
Arnaldo Pomodoro, Carla Accardi and Jannis Kounellis are just some of the artists who have taken part in this event aimed at helping the over 7,000 Colombian women and children who are refugees in Ecuador. Since over 40 years a bloody civil war has been raging in Colombia. Many men have died, and continue to do so, and this forces many of their families to seek asylum in Ecuador. These women not only have the fate of their family on their shoulders but are often victims of abuse, exploitation and discrimination in Ecuador, a country in which they hope to build a new life. The works exhibited are, as in past years, sold by auction and the proceeds go towards helping those Colombian families who have lost their father-and-husband figure.

Mexican photographer Flor Garduno depicts women in all their essence and complexity, showing them as myths, symbols and flesh. The clothes designed by the Annamode dress-making firm brought a very refined style to the world of fashion and cinema. The two sisters behind the firm, Anna and Teresa, dressed the likes of Claudia Cardinale, Sophia Loren, Liza Minnelli and Ingrid Berman. The exhibition shows garments that tell the story of Italian cinema in the last few decades.

Continelli photographed Tiziano Terzani between1995 and 2004, and the result is a series of shots where we see the latter going about his daily business. Sixteen years after his death this retrospective is dedicated to Gino Bogoni, a sculptor and graphic artist from Verona whose art was highly innovative and stimulated by his encounter with European and American artists. An ample array of Bogoni's works, from his first precocious steps into the world of art up until the most recent period, are on display. The life of Bogoni the man was profoundly touched by pain and was the fertile terrain for the birth of his talent, a talent that produces vibrant, female and existential works. h10-13 and h15,30-20. The restoration work on the Great Hall of Trajan's Markets started in February 2005. The works have focused on the whole building, but were concentrated primarily on the hemicycle that is the Great Hall. The complex will reopen in its entirety to the public next Spring, but the Great Hall will be open as a one-off on the night of 9th September, on the night Rome celebrates its fourth Notte Bianca.

Pedro Cabrita Reis' massive and exclusive installation contains a universe of glass and steel beams in which the notion of space is continually questioned and transformed according to the configurations created by the materials assembled. The Portuguese artist is a master at irrational and chaotic composition and conveys social context in heightened and contemporary fashion.
