"Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus' son Achilleus and its devastation, which put pains thousandfold upon the Achaians [...]." Thus begins one of the most famous poems in the world. This exhibition's intent is to be as faithful as possible to the original poem. Its first section is in fact made up of the work's so-called prodromes (premonitions), such as the Judgement of Paris. A beautiful gallery has been filled with gods and heroes, and another section dedicated to Greek and Trojan heroes. Finally the last section is dedicated to the strongest and most intense sequences of the poem; those that speak of love and war. The Iliad is a masterpiece that should be revisited often. Until 18 Feb: Tra Oriente e Occidente (Between East and West)
This exhibition features etchings created using a vast range of different techniques and styles by the likes of Stanis Dessy, Mario Delitala, Bruno Bramanti and Moses Levi. The engravings all deal with the East as a subject matter; the East as both a geographic place and a metaphorical concept. Therefore we see landscapes as diverse as Algeria, Libya, Sardinia, and the Trentino and Tuscany regions. Eastern or Oriental here means rural, and is therefore a counterpoint to the urban. "Between East and West" posits a perspective in which progress is reversed; the model suggested here is a pastoral one. Tue-sat h10-19. Admission free
