Held in one of the most symbolic Roman locations, this is an appointment not to be missed for anyone who loves literature. This year the most compelling contemporary Italian and international writers will take part, such as John Irving, Isabella Santacroce, Nadine Gordimer, Sandro Veronesi, Alessandro Baricco, Zadie Smith and José Saramago. These authors will read new texts written especially for the occasion and inspired by this year's theme of "Natural versus Artificial". Admission free

Until 31 Dec: The Opening of Villino Medioevale. Technotown
The Villino Medievale is becoming a multimedia heaven for kids. Starting in October, nine halls will give kids the possibility to become familiar with technological wonders such as robotics, 3D photography, pressure sensitive pads, musical visualisation, and virtual reconstruction of inhabited spaces. Currently, a hall with 3D stereo and a hall with an interactive pressure sensitive pad are open to the public. Discover the future by discovering the architectural treasures of the past. The Roman coast will host a 120 day marathon of events with "Approdo alla lettura" in Ostia. A series of initiatives in the summer will revolve around the undisputed protagonist of the event, the book, and showcasing of emerging authors. The Pontile in Ostia will host exhibits, entertainment for children, theatre, large-screen televisions for World Cup matches, concerts, dance schools, and PlayStation tournaments.
